Interview with KEYT news channel 3

On August 11, 2013 I met with Alys Martinez of KEYT news channel 3 to film an interview about my childhood and how it ultimately led me to Big Brothers Big Sisters. It was a pleasure working with Alys and I was excited about the way the interview turned out. It feels so great to have the support of my community! Lucky girl here! If even just one person who saw this interview was influenced to become a Big (mentor), then it was a success! Thank you KEYT!

*October 29, 2012- Pumpkin carving event with my 'Little' at BBBS of Santa Barbara.

*Feburary 19, 2013- Meeting with Big Brothers Big Sisters marketing team to discuss future events/appearences/fundraising ideas, etc.
*March 3, 2013- Second meeting with Make-A-Wish kid and family.
*March 11-15, 2013- Platform page design with the awesome Susan Botek.
*March 15, 2013- Appearence at the Miss Bakersfield Intl. pageant with my Mrs. California sister-queen Shana Smith.
*March 18, 2013- FINALLY get to see my 5th grade teacher (one of the most influential people of my past) for the first time in 14 years!
*April 8, 2013- Meeting with my Make-A-Wish child to finish the paperwork for his wish. He's decided on a Disney Aulani Hawaiian vacation!
*April 12, 2013- Anniversary of when Tania (my "Little") and I were matched.
*May 14, 2013- I was invited to be the guest speaker at the Big Brothers Big Sisters President's Circle event. What an honor!
*May 19,2013- Guest Reader at the California Strawberry Festival with my Little. We read a strawberry-themed book to a group of parents and children.
*May 25, 2013- Volunteered at the 24th annual Cajun & Blues Music Festival to support the Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise.
*June 2, 2013- My Little's 11th birthday!
*June 3, 2013- Celebrated Tania's 11th birthday.
*Jube 10, 2013- Volunteering at the Daniel Johnson Memorial Golf Tournament at the Santa Maria County Club to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Santa Barbara. Dan was killed in action on October 5th, 2010 in Afghanistan while serving his country as a proud member of the Air Force’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal team. This was his second tour of duty. While stationed at VAFB, Dan joined Family Service Agency’s Big Brother Big Sister program and was an active and devoted Big Brother for over two years. Funds raised from this event will be donated to the Big Brother Big Sister program in his honor.

*July 26&27, 2013- 2013 Miss International Pageant in Chicago, Illinois.
